Product
Development/Project Engineer - Fibre Optic
Following a period of sustained growth we are recruiting a Fibre
Optic Product Development/Project Engineer.
Greenwoods is a leading independent network solutions provider
to the communications industry, specialising in telecom network
build and roll-out. We supply a range of telecom products and
infrastructure services for network operators and OEM's.
Overview:
Working closely with a cross function team (including
Product Management, Technical and Product Design) the successful
candidate will be responsible for taking new products from concept
to completion in addition to supporting products throughout
their lifecycle.
Day to day activities may include supporting the development
of fibre cable assemblies, optical enclosure systems and optical
distributions frames.
Strengthening supplier relationships and working closely with
key business partners is also within the scope of this role.
Responsibilities:

Project management of small to medium
size development projects. |
 |
Creation of detailed product design
specifications (with team assistance). |
 |
Creative/development input. |
 |
Supporting quality/production engineers
with the creation of product quality plans. |
 |
Support with product qualification/test
programs. |
 |
Creation of technical specifications
for purchased parts. |
 |
Support, continuation and enhancement
of products throughout the life cycle. |
Experience:
 |
HNC/HND (or Degree) in an engineering
related discipline. A bias towards mechanical/manufacturing
is preferred. |
 |
Understanding of fibre optics, optical
fibre interconnects and cable management solutions advantageous. |
 |
Knowledge of modern manufacturing techniques. |
 |
Familiarity of product qualification/certification
processes within the communications market highly desirable. |
In addition to be being a 'creative thinker' the Development/Project
Engineer will have excellent planning, communication and organizational
skills.
Exposure to using and following structured problem solving techniques:
lean engineering, FMEA and six sigma techniques would be beneficial.
