Greenwoods Installs
Cat6 Into Its New Premises
| |
|
 |
| Greenwoods Communications
put its money where its mouth is, when it recently designed
and installed a customised future proofed data system,
for its new premises in Birmingham. |

The
new premises, which became operational in September 2002, boast 30,000sq
ft of office space and 100,000sq ft of warehouse space. The continual
expansion and growth of the company initiated the need for a technology
that would facilitate future demands; hence the decision was made
to install a Category 6 cabling infrastructure. Category 6 is designed
for high-speed data transmissions on LANs and offers maximum future
proofing for advanced applications delivered over the structured cabling
system.
Wesley Walton, structured cabling manager commented, "The in-house
installation of Greenwoods' structured cabling system demonstrates
our ability to provide and install the latest technologies. The system
can be used as a showcase to customers, as we have a staging area
set-up that can be used for testing and pre-configuration."
As
a KRONE Approved Installer, Greenwoods Communications selected the
KRONE product suite to support the installation of more than 1200
Category 6 RJ45 outlets, throughout the three office floors and warehouse
environment. The decision to 'flood wire' means that moves, changes
and expansion are easily accommodated. To support the new Gigabit
LAN architecture and to provide a high level of fault tolerance, a
diversely routed fibre cabling system has been installed. In addition
to this, the entire system is covered by the KRONE 20 year warranty
program.
Barry Silverman, structured cabling product manager added, "On the
LAN side, we have installed HP Gigabit Ethernet switches that deliver
fast internet to desktop and the overall set-up forms part of our
campus environment, as Greenwoods has several other facilities in
the Coleshill area of Birmingham." |
