Mobile Consortium:
The UK's First Independent End-to-end Mobile Infrastructure Service
| |
|
 |
| Mobile operators can now
employ Greenwoods to project manage mobile infrastructure
site roll-out, including site acquisition, constructing
base stations and masts, and testing, commissioning and
installing network equipment. This opportunity has arisen
since Greenwoods Communications has announced the creation
of a mobile infrastructure consortium offering a complete
outsourcing service to operators and OEMs. |

The
consortium, headed and managed by Greenwoods, includes firms with
expertise in all areas of mobile network roll out. Key members of
the consortium bring years of expertise in the mobile telecoms sector,
including extensive experience at companies such as Orange.
As operators reprioritise their core business, moving away from infrastructure
deployment and project management in order to focus more on the marketing
and provision of services, an opportunity has opened up for companies
to fill this gap. By handing over network roll-out and commissioning
responsibilities to the Greenwoods consortium, operators can concentrate
on business fundamentals and enjoy increased efficiencies and reduced
costs. All
the partners involved in the consortium have been hand picked by Greenwoods
for their knowledge and expertise in their specialist areas as well
as their knowledge of mobile telecoms companies' requirements. Partner
firms include Mitie, and Andrew Wilkes.
Additionally, for the project management of network infrastructure
to be outsourced successfully, accurate measurement and monitoring
of installations becomes paramount. To this end, Greenwoods has developed
a unique project collaboration tool, giving real time cost information,
progress reports, risk and issue management, and in-built quality
control mechanisms. "The range of expertise needed to build
bespoke mobile switch sites and network infrastructure from scratch
is just too broad for any one company to handle on its own," said
Keith Slater, mobile construction manager at Greenwoods Communications.
"By bringing in partners to perform tasks outside of our core expertise,
such as site acquisition and mast construction, we are able to offer
a genuine one-stop-shop solution. In addition, it gives our customers
one point of contact, and the piece of mind - with our project collaboration
tool - to let us get on with what we do best." |
