Over
the years, it became apparent that the actual mechanics of delivering
equipment cabinets to switch sites often caused problems for the network
operator. Delivery itself may be straightforward, but once sensitive
and often fragile equipment is delivered the most complex part is
often moving it through the building to the comms room. The predicament
of delivering a rack to tile, 22 floors up with no lift, is obviously
going to cause problems. However,
Esprit already specialising in the movement of communication related
goods, launched a 'deliver to tile' service. This service involves
transportation, but also incorporates unloading the goods and using
specialised equipment to deliver the equipment into its designated
installation point in the comms room. Esprit frequently uses stairwalkers
to carefully manoeuvre equipment through buildings. They also specialise
in planned handling, undertaking an initial site survey and determining
any special requirements for moving equipment into place. Over the
past two years, Esprit has honed its skills to include rooftop access
and regularly employs cranes for difficult sites, for example, where
a simple window delivery is deemed more practical and cost effective
than using 'standard' access points. "At
Esprit, we are proud of the legacy that our expertise has created.
Furthermore we have revolutionised the hitherto accepted methods of
delivery, taking our service one step forward to add value to what
is generally considered standard practice. We have built on 'standard
practice' to develop a service that saves customers time and removes
a significant logistical headache." said John Powell, Esprit transport
consultant.
Esprit understands the tight deadlines that apply within the communications
industry and promotes better use of resources by collating and combining
as many jobs on one vehicle, thereby achieving economy of scale. Esprit
also boasts Level Four Aviation Accreditation, allowing drivers access
in various areas within airports, when dealing with airfreight. |
