Greenwoods wins contract
with THUS to supply and manage full range of consumables
| |
|
 |
| THUS plc, one of the UK's
leading providers of voice, data and Internet services,
has chosen Greenwoods Communications to exclusively manage
the procurement and distribution of its consumable product
requirements. |

 THUS
currently sources these products from 60 separate suppliers -by consolidating
its consumables procurement, with Greenwoods as sole supplier, THUS
expects to realise benefits from a reduction in purchase costs, as
well as savings in overall management and administration costs associated
with the purchasing process.
Greenwoods will be responsible for supplying THUS with a complete
range of consumables, from connectors and cables to racks, cabinets
and enclosures. Greenwoods will supply these products to THUS's central
store in Scotland, and to regional centres on a next day, 'as needed'
basis. This significantly reduces the inventory THUS needs to keep
itself, thereby helping to keep its assets liquid. "Asset
and inventory management is a major headache for all telecoms providers,
so by using one supplier to procure consumables, we no longer have
to administer 60 separate suppliers, allowing our managers to concentrate
on more important aspects of their roles - this saves us both time
and money" said Ken Moncrieff, head of procurement at THUS.
"While telecoms is a relatively young industry, it can still be quite
old-fashioned in its thinking," continued Moncrieff. "The one-stop-shop
approach that Greenwoods offers is a fairly new innovation within
the industry, but as both telecoms providers and OEMs increasingly
concentrate on their core competencies, it's clearly addressing a
very real need." "We
view ourselves as part of THUS's virtual team - a genuine extension
of the company rather than just a discreet supplier," said Karl Bowater,
account manager at Greenwoods Communications. "This means not just
blindly procuring products, but actually examining THUS's requirements
and recommending the best possible solution, which may well differ
from what THUS has used in the past. This is the kind of expertise
that THUS is hiring us for." |
